About the site

In 2008 I decided to start a fanpage for my favorite (and best) Food Network host, Alton Brown.  For years, I admired his work on Good Eats, Feasting on Asphalt, Iron Chef America and his cookbooks. I thought a site of appreciation to someone who had taught me so much was the least I could do for a small repayment.

Over the years of watching, and more importantly learning, Alton became a mentor to me.  I ranked him up with some of my most favorite college professors for everything that he taught me.  On the personal side, he seemed to be someone not caught up in fame and fortune rather a guy with passion for food and cooking who just wanted to share it with others.  I admired that about him because I saw that passion for cooking to be similar to my own and the same desire to understand how and why things worked.

When I settled on making the site, wanted the site to encompass all of Alton’s projects because each one of them are equally great on their own merit.  I knew of a fanpage dedicated to just Good Eats but felt more was needed because, to me, he was so much more than the host of Good Eats.  That being said, I knew that Alton would appreciate having his other work acknowledged as well.

Before starting the site, I had only met Mr. Brown once.  It was the year before in Nashville at a demo and meet and greet through the Opryland Hotel.  It was one of the greatest times of my life.  I was very scared to meet someone I admired so much, in fact I forgot my name when he asked me.
